SO NICE TO TAKE A BREAK FROM BLACK AND WHITE THINKING AND FOCUS ON GREY INSTEAD.
what he says about race is fair and true, but really why say this? a president cannot legislate away america's crippling race problems. on things he can affect, education, healthcare, business and foreign policy he seems vague and insubstantial.
as a non-american it troubles me that there seems to be a growing momentum for him, despite the lack of concrete policies and plans so desperately needed to turn the tide of the last 10 years.
AH.com: I am afraid you are focused on the wrong things. No one is good at everything. Often people are good in one area at the grave expense of other areas. I believe this to be true of Hillary Clinton who may be especially knowledgable in the area of health insurance for example but she suffers in the areas of interpersonal qualities and judgment. A president cannot be expected to have knowldge in every area. The best we can hope for is that he/she possess sound judgment, thoughtfulness and ability to inspire and unite. Realistically presidents are vessels surrounded by smart, knowledgable people in every field. What they must not lack and what they will be expected to make the most difficult decisions on are judgment and heart. Barack Obama has a firm grasp on both.
a comment on your comment on my comment: you are entirely right that judgement and heart are crucial, but can you really gauge Obama's judgement with his limited experience? i had not heard of him until he announced his candidacy, and looking back on his career he seems to have spent most of his time running for elections...
tone is hard in these kind of comments, but i am not a raving clinton supporter. the concern i feel is that a term by a democrat who is not ready for office would do damage to the liberal side of american politics.
We get a candidate like Obama once (maybe) in a lifetime. If folks don't want to elect as president an individual with this kind of conviction and insight, we'll get more of the same again and again...
Obama is the real deal! Head to PA folks, and get out the vote!!
